I'm not fully across the Vicky Gosling story, but from what I've read... I think it's true that women still get a harder time than men in the same roles (not at all suggesting that you were harder on her), but I also get frustrated at seeing one person in a set of roles that gives them such a lot of power. Since women tend to get fewer of these roles, I do hope that she really is mentoring other women (possibly with some investment in the sports?) to take some of them over, rather than her holding onto them all and blocking others from having opportunities. Death to Leaning In!!
It’s how opaque and unaccountable it all was that perplexes me. Clearly there’s a governance element to the roles that by all accounts she seems well suited for. But the comms/culture side is troubling, especially when she’s out there doing press that perpetuates stereotypes about our world that should have been to bed years ago. Case in point an interview she did on the BBC the other week where it ended up with her and the presenter chuckling away about the word ‘gnarly’ 🙈
Yeesh! That really is so weird and revealing (and cringe-y) re: taking a focus on high-performance sport outcomes over the sporting culture more broadly.
Hi Matt - is there a specific link for item 5 (Whitecross Offshore Wind Farm) where we can add/view comments? Haven’t been able to find one.
Thanks
Hey Steve, gah looks like the link messed up when I sent it. Let me replace it this arvo
