The Print Club London this weekend present their annual end of summer show. After the success of the previous three ‘Blisters’ shows they took a year off last year, and are back with what looks like a great lineup of artists, including LS featured artist Phil Morgan, and a great concept: “Blisters The Directors Cut” – a selection of original prints based on re-imagined versions of posters for the artists favourite films, which is open this Friday 31st August and Saturday 1st September.
Phil’s work is great, and his was one of the two most highly praised and commented-on pieces we displayed at the recent Boardmasters show. For more info on Phil check out the artists profile interview we did with him and his website for a selection of his work. He’s rightly busy and in demand at the moment, as well as the Blisters show piece he’s got two trips to the US planned in the next couple of months, so hopefully you’ll be able to see more of his work over that side of the pond. In the meantime he has another couple of designs available soon from the Wolves Kill Sheep clothing label, a great company who make and design their collections in Los Angeles, with graphics provided by a selection of artists we love, including Phil and another of our favourites here – Michael C Hsiung.
Here’s some more info fromThe Print Club:
“Blisters is our big end of summer hand pulled, screenprinted poster show bringing together a mixture of 40 established and emerging illustrators, designers and street artists. Our past Blisters shows, Blisters on my fingers, Secret Blisters and Blisters Blackout were a huge success with over 2000 people on the opening night and great press coverage in all the creative magazines and blogs.”
“The Print Club brief for the artists for the Directors Cut Submit an alternative movie poster in your own style inspired by your favorite film! The catch is, you cannot use the title of the film at all. Use of other text is allowed of course but it should stand alone as an image/scene or typography piece, it doesn’t have to be an advertisement for the film! Poster size B2 (700x500mm) and to be screenprinted! There will be 40 exhibiting artists, each with 40 signed and editioned screenprints selling for £40. Our aim is to expose affordable screenprints to a wider demographic, giving everyone the chance to enjoy and invest in original artwork. Artists that have taken part in our past Blisters shows include Ben Eine, Jamie Reid, Mr Bingo, Stevie Gee, Pure Evil, Peter Stitson, Luke Insect, Anthony Burrill, Cept, Serge Seidlitz, Jon Burgerman, Kate Moross, Ryan Todd, James Joyce, Luke Whittaker, Atelier Deux-Mille, Clifford Richards, Run Don’t Walk, Heiko, Gary Taxali, Mike Perry, RYCA and many many more!”

This year all the posters are derived from movies including The Royal Tenenbaums, Star Wars, The Outsiders, Metropolis, Planet Of The Apes and Phsycho!
