Japanese artist Haroshi is a real favourite of ours here at Looking Sideways. Any new work we get to see is a real treat and this new series, commissioned by the Jonathan LeVine Gallery to be part of their program at the Scope Basel art show, is no different.
“Jonathan LeVine Gallery is very pleased to announce a series of incredible new sculptures by Tokyo-based artist Haroshi, which will be part of our program at SCOPE-Basel from June 12—17, 2012. Foot with Invisible Shoe (1-6) is a series of six sculptures created with used skateboard decks. Each foot is unique, created in pairs of two, there are three different styles wearing three different types of transparent sneakers.”

Also out at recently is a great ‘Berrics’ short film, part of their ‘Process’ series, showing Haroshi working on the trophy he designed for the winner of Battle at the Berrics comp – no embed code for this one sorry but check the film by clicking on the Berrics link above, and here’s a grab of the trophy:
Check Haroshi’s Facebook page for more images of both the BATB trophy and the ‘Foot With Invisible Shoe’ series.
