Regular readers will be aware of the contest we held at the 2012 Boardmasters surf event down in Newquay, but for those who need a quick re-fresh, here’s what we got up to:
We took 1000 art packs with us, which included some Vans goodies, a blank poster (with guidelines on it) and four sticker packs. We invited anyone to take them away, to get creative and to either email or hand back their best home-made artwork.
It wasn’t really a competition (we just wanted people to get creative, and to check out some of the artwork we took to Boardmasters – from which we made some of the stickers) but if they did want to submit an entry, the prizes were amazing (if we do say so ourselves): Vans shoes given away each day for the best Daily Winners; a specially commissioned Vans custom-built guitar (which was won by Daisy Rendall’s amazing World Map picture) and the top prize: a custom-built Adrian Phillips-shaped surfboard with the winning artwork as the graphic. No wonder we had queues around the block for each giveaway.
Anyway, all that is a long introduction to saying that via the Facebook competition (in which we whittled down ten worthy finalists and asked people to vote for their favourite picture), we are pleased to announce that Josie Pearce is the winner of the custom shaped surfboard, after submitting this amazing entry:
Thanks to all who entered and see you all next year for another great weekend!
