A bit more info about the potential winners of the surfboard, and why they made it to the finals of the art competition…

This is by Kate Davies, aged 8, from Wales. “I just liked the Welsh feminist vibe coming off it,” says Looking Sideways’ John Bassett. It’s one of two entries in the final top ten by the Davies sisters.

Billy Freeman is also in the running for the surfboard with this entry. “It’s a pleasing mix,” says Looking Sideways Matt Barr. “Creative, there’s a bit of symmetry and he’s gone to a lot of trouble with the sticker cutouts too.”

Sophie Chambers’ entry won one of the daily prizes of Vans shoes. We decided to put all the daily winner posters into the main draw for the surfboard too. “I like the skull cyclops,” says LS art director Owen Tozer.

14-year-old Lauren Davies is another of the Davies sisters in with a chance of winning the surfboard with her cross entry.

Julesy Horner’s submission for the art contest – click on our Facebook page to see who is going to win the surfboard.

Evie Richardson’s minimalist artwork is definitely in with a chance of the surfboard. Of all ten finalists, 8 are girls. Good skills creative ladies, we salute you!
